Politicians and people who have interest in politics have always found a way to drag media men into their circles.
In Ghana, a higher number of media personalities have been tagged as sympathizers of either the NPP or NDC.
If a media personality consistently assesses the performance of a ruling government, he’ll be tagged as a sympathizer of the opposition.
This needless tag by both politicians and society has gagged a lot of fine brains from expressing their opinion on issues of national interest.
Below are three distinguished media men who have consistently been tagged as NPP sympathizers:
1. Kwame Sefa Kayi
Kwame Sefa Kayi is arguably the most popular and celebrated morning show host in Ghana. He is the host of Kokrokoo morning show on Peace 104.3FM. Known by his friends as “Chairman General”,Sefa Kayi has been with Peace F.M since September 2000
A lot of accusations have come from the main opposition party about Sefa Kayi’s allegiance to the NPP. In 2017, rumours were wild on Sefa Kaye quitting radio for a presidential appointment.
As unbiased and critical as Sefa Kaye is, it will be difficult to tell his political affiliation.
2. Paul Adom-Otchere
Paul Adom-Otchere is the host of Metro TV’s current affairs program, Good Evening Ghana. Paul has been the host of the program for over a decade.
His flagship program, Good Evening Ghana has been described by many as a pro-NPP talk show. Paul appears not to be perturbed by the countless tags.
3. Abdul Malik Kweku Baako
Kweku Baako is the Editor in Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper and a known sympathizer of the CPP. His seeming dislike for Chairman Rawlings and continuous assessment and scrutiny of the NDC has won him the NPP tag.
Interestingly Mr. Baako appears on radio and TV shows as the Editor in Chief of a newspaper. He has never officially spoken as an NPP communicator.
Three Media Personalities Who Have Been Tagged As NDC:
1. Kwesi Pratt Jnr
Mr. Kwesi Pratt Jnr is the managing editor of the Insight Newspaper and a political commentator on various media platforms.
Passionate political pundit, Kwesi Pratt, has been tagged countlessly as an NDC sympathizer, especially by the opposition. Just like Mr. Baako, Kwesi is a known member of the CPP. His scrutiny of the current government has probably won him the tag as a pro NDC communicator
2. Randy Abbey
Dr. Randy Abbey is the host of Metro TVs popular breakfast show; Good Morning Ghana. Randy has been largely tagged as a sympathizer of the NDC. Randy who is said to be a close friend to Ex President Mahama is rumored to have declared his vote for Mr. Mahama in 2016.
3. Manasseh Azure
Mr. Azure is currently a freelance journalist. He once worked with the Multimedia Group and was best known for his controversial investigate piece.
Manasseh in recent times has been linked to the NDC because of his assessment and constructive criticism of the NPP government. He hasn’t openly declared his support for any political party.
