Fast-rising Ghanaian Musician,Andrew Otoo, known on stage as Mr Drew–whose career took on a different turn after emerging first runner-up on season 7 of TV3’s MTN Hitmaker reality show–has since not just fascinated Ghanaians with his smooth and silky voice but has also surrounded himself with elephantine controversies.

Mr Drew has released a number of bangers that include ‘Simajorley’, ‘Dwe’ with Krymi and Sarkodie, and ‘Eat’ with Stonebwoy .

He was formerly known for his dance talent, and turned out as an extraordinary singer, but he is probably not as talented as he poses to be.

The budding artist has allegedly been ‘stealing’ songs of other artists. This accusation emerged after his banger  titled “Dwe’. Kurl Songx, hitmaker of the ‘Jennifer Lomotey’ song which features Ghana’s finest rapper, Sarkodie claimed ownership of the song.He revealed that the song belongs to him, but was ‘stolen’ by Mr Drew.
He has again been accused of stealing his recent hit song “Eat” featuring the legendary Bhim Nation President, Stonebwoy –from the song titled ‘Love Riddim’ originally composed by Rotimi–a Nigerian/American actor and singer.
Emany, is an underground artist who has recently earned fame for himself ,not for his singing prowess, but for his despicable act of ‘Snitching’ on Mr Drew to Rotimi. He however proves impenitent ,as he vaunts about having saved the Highly Spiritual Music Signee by reporting him to Rotimi.
Following the report, Rotimi has threatened Mr Drew with copyright infringement, resulting in the deletion of the hit song from YouTube.
And as if that isn’t too much chaos for him(Mr Drew),manager of multiple award-winning Dancehall artist Shatta Wale;Lawrence Asiamah Hanson aka Bulldog has also described him as a music thief.
Management of Highly Spiritual Music  headed by award-winning Sound engineer,Kaywa ,has responded to the allegations made against their artist, saying that Mr Drew was only making a cover of the song(Love Riddim)
But Mr Drew, in contrast, has created doubts in the minds of Ghanaians following his recent interview on popular entertainment show,’Entertainment City’–hosted by Nana Adwoa Annan on Atinka TV.
During the interview, in an attempt to explain himself and prove his innocence,Mr Drew was rather caught fumbling and contradicting himself and his manager Kaywa.
He said that the ‘Eat’ song was only a cover, because he asked for permission from Rotimi’s management ,”but it was a mistake on my part to even put it out without their permission”,he admitted
The hostess,Nana Adwoa Annan, queried him on why his management allowed him to release the song without a go-ahead from the other party:
“Was Kaywa’s team not responsible to get a go-ahead before you put the song out there?”…”they are responsible”,he replied –adding that,”but then if you haven’t gotten a reply, you can’t force anybody”.
He was then asked why he went ahead to release the song nevertheless, and he replied that Kaywa ,his manager, did not even know about it.
How can an artist who has been signed onto a Record label record a song without the consent of the management? RazzNews.com can’t comprehend this.
Is Mr Drew lying to his fans or did he just demean his management? Is he justifying that he is truly a music thief?
Well, kindly watch the interview below and be the judge.
